What to Expect

Join Tesla’s Optimus hardware validation and test team and help shape the future of humanoid robotics. In this role you will lead a team of engineering technicians responsible for rigorous component, subsystem, and system-level testing of the Optimus robot. Strong technical knowledge of electromechanical systems is essential, along with exceptional documentation discipline, organizational excellence, and the ability to lead and develop people.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineering technicians through clear direction, regular feedback, and career support
  • Establish and maintain rigorous documentation standards including standard operating procedures, test records, inspection checklists, and data logs
  • Drive organization and process discipline across the lab including layout, equipment tracking, scheduling, and workflow optimization
  • Partner with reliability and test engineers to support test execution, failure investigations, data analysis, and design improvements
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols while managing multiple priorities and shifting program requirements
  • Track and manage team resources, budgets, and schedules to improve efficiency and quality
  • Provide hands-on technical oversight of electromechanical test operations including instrumentation, sensor integration, actuator validation, and wiring harness work

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role managing skilled technicians in testing, validation, or R&D environments
  • Hands-on expertise in mechanical, electrical, or materials testing with proficiency using hand tools, power tools, lab equipment, and fabrication techniques
  • Strong technical skills in test setup, execution, troubleshooting, and data collection including Excel, Linux CLI, and Python
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience leading root cause analysis and failure investigations across mechanical, electrical, and materials domains
  • Proven ability to build high-performing teams in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities
  • Degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience

  • $120,800 - $181,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
