Staff Vehicle Dynamics Engineer - Tires, Spain

What to Expect
Serve as part of the Vehicle dynamics Engineering team to objectively characterize submission tires, generate timely reports with detailed analysis of Ride Steering Handling and NVH to precisely guide the development process. You will be working closely with the subjective attribute evaluators to couple the subjective impression with the objective data to help derive a candidate which balances all attributes.
Responsibilities involve close cross functional relationship between multiple departments such as Chassis, Vehicle Modelling, Range, and NVH.
Work closely with modelling and chassis team to specify tire targets at the beginning of each vehicle program to deliver on all attribute targets.
What You’ll Do
- Work within the Vehicle Dynamics team to ensure correct integration of all tire variants for all attributes as Ride, Steering, Handling, Efficiency & NVH
- Be the Subject Matter Expert for all objective tire metrics, meaning that you’ll be responsible for both subjective and objective alignment and work directly with the tire OEM to derive tuning direction
- Define attribute tire targets both subjective and objective to help formulate tire specification and the beginning of each vehicle project
- Perform/Assist with vehicle instrumentation and setup prior to each test
- Perform in vehicle objective maneuvers both human and robot driven
- Perform subjective assessments using the SAE subjective scale
- Work alongside technical project managers to appropriately prioritize testing in accordance with program milestones
- - Perform routine tire quality checks for industrialized tires to ensure attribute performance
What You’ll Bring

Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Engineering Technology, Physics or related experience

5 + years of experience in automotive development

- Subjective vehicle performance evaluation both below and above the adhesion limit
-
- Subjective vehicle performance evaluation at very high speed
-
Subjective vehicle performance evaluation in all surface condition (snow, wet, dry, off-road)

Vehicle instrumentation and data analysis
-
Objective handling characterization
-
Very good knowledge of common calibration tools such as Vector Canape

Proficiency with Matlab and similar rapid prototyping firmware environment is a plus

Ability to travel for onsite Proving ground activities
