The Role

Tesla’s Cell Manufacturing group is looking for a highly motivated individual with strong problem solving capabilities. This is a cross-functional role that requires coordination between many different groups within and outside of Tesla. You will work on different projects in cell manufacturing operations and engineering, as well as planning and execution of new cell manufacturing expansion within Europe. Additionally, build productive relationships with external suppliers and relevant agencies.

You will drive projects from initial feasibility analysis through detailed planning and ramp to production volume. You will communicate and present project status, highlight schedule risk, and develop recovery plans in the event of a project slip. You will spend significant time with critical suppliers, internal teams and agency within Europe, with some travel to our California and Texas facilities.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with Cell Engineering, Cell Operations, Factory Design, Quality, Supply Chain, Production Planning, and other supporting functions in order to scope and drive projects for deployment of Cell manufacturing in Tesla’s Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg
  • Work with external partners, suppliers and internal stakeholders to develop comprehensive plans; outlining strategy, scope, schedule, risks, resource requirements, cost targets. Work with cross-functional teams to drive the program towards the plan
  • Create, maintain, communicate, and present schedules for projects to the Cell Manufacturing leadership team
  • Define and drive tasks to be performed by the cross-functional team. Prioritize team project work based on schedule, risk, resources, and payback. Track status of projects and action items against the schedule
  • Identify creative ways to overcome obstacles and meet the schedule despite setbacks
  • You’ll report directly to the Senior Manager Cell and work on priority projects to define and execute the cell manufacturing strategy
  • Prepare analysis, reports and presentations

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or similar technical engineering discipline), and/or evidence of exceptional experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing, with a focus on development of manufacturing equipment, project management, and engineering roles

  • Experience with semi-automated / automated manufacturing equipment is a plus

  • Knowledge of production processes, including OEE calculation and other relevant metrics

  • Familiarity with project management tools such as JIRA, Microsoft Project, Confluence, and others

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously, occasionally requiring extended hours

  • Demonstrated experience in the management of engineering projects for mass-produced products

  • Experience with project planning, including creating and managing project schedules and budgets.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage large teams

  • Experience with Operation Excellence principles and practices, including lean manufacturing and continuous improvement

  • Aptitude to learn and incorporate new technologies

  • Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
