What to Expect

At Tesla Engineering Germany in Freiburg, we’re building the future of sustainable energy by developing innovative power electronics for energy storage and vehicle charging systems. Join our team to collaborate across different engineering areas, solve meaningful challenges creatively and transfer concepts from initial design, through prototyping and testing into real-world solutions.

This is an opportunity to support key projects, use modern tools, and work in state-of-the-art facilities to create technologies that shape how energy systems evolve. You get to work on advancing power electronics used for Tesla products globally, thereby directly contributing to the acceleration of the world's transition to sustainable energy.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform integration of hardware and firmware for next-generation power electronics converters at Tesla Energy
  • Create detailed test plans according to requirements to validate functions, safety, and system performance
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in design and performance by providing precise feedback to design teams
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and firmware issues in complex, high-power/high-voltage systems (AC/DC, DC/DC, up to 1000V and 100kW)
  • Engage in hands-on hardware bring-up, validation activities and write automated test scripts in Python
  • Compile and present clear, concise test reports
  • Adhere to safety policies and regulatory compliance specific to high-voltage and high-power applications

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, power electronics or equivalent professional experience with demonstrated expertise

  • 2+ years of experience in hardware integration and system testing of high-voltage/high-power converters (AC/DC, DC/DC, above 100V, 10kW)

  • Hands-on experience with high-voltage measurements, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, grid simulators and other relevant test equipment

  • Familiarity in PCB design software such as Altium, Eagle, KiCad or similar

  • Proactive problem-solving mindset and strong English communication skills

  • Ability to deliver high-quality results, while effectively managing shifting priorities and demanding conditions

  • Advanced experience in Python programming, C or C++ programming would be a plus

  • Experience with hardware validation of medium voltage products (up to 36kV) would be beneficial

  • Tesla is an Equal Opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to any factor, including veteran status and disability status, protected by applicable federal, state or local laws.

  • Tesla is also committed to working with and providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities. Please let your recruiter know if you need an accommodation at any point during the interview process.
