Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Controls Engineer, who will be responsible for shop-floor controls of the Can-Stamping-Operations, consisting of Cupping, Deep-Drawing, Washing, Drying and Conveying for the Gigafactory in Berlin-Brandenburg. You will also be responsible to support the future capacity expansion.

Within this role you will be team-member of the Engineering-team within the Cell department.

What You’ll Do

  • Reports to Associate Manager Cell Can Stamping
  • Acts based on directions by the manager and undertakes actions for controls improvement in running processes / production
  • Responsible for executing the job with focus on cost, quality and timing
  • Builds and maintains an attitude of team player to fellow positions within the home organization
  • Builds and maintains an attitude of team player to fellow positions to attached and interacting organizations
  • Acts in accordance with environmental, health and safety regulations
  • Acts in accordance with compliance and security regulations
  • Contributes to develop new machine, processes and automation concepts along with several Manufacturing Engineering peers
  • Creates a robust controls system architecture to support the concept, and then layout electrical schematics
  • Responsible to architect, write, and debug PLC SCL, GRAPH & ladder logic with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable PLC code
  • Responsible for designing / selecting robotic systems, run simulation, implementation, commissioning and programming
  • Supports managing the network and hardware IT infrastructure
  • Supports Design and Process FMEA and contributes to zero-defect policy
  • Continually monitors process Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and contributes to maximize line speed and equipment stability
  • Acts as the owner / expert to drive control improvements including detailed troubleshooting and root cause analysis in collaboration with the process / quality engineers

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor / Master of Science in Electrical, Software Engineering or Data Science. The equivalent in experience is also acceptable with evidence of exceptional ability

  • Previous experience in working in and acting with multiple groups of professionals

  • Previous experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing (beverage among others) is highly desired

  • 5+ years of advanced PLC programming knowledge on Siemens Step 7, TIA Portal

  • 5+ years of professional experience with servo drives on Siemens SINAMICS

  • Previous experience in programming Human Machine Interface (HMI / Ignition)

  • Previous experience in working with Field bus Networks

  • Understanding of databases (MySQL, MSSQL) and various program languages (Java, Python, SQL) and their communication preferred

  • In depth knowledge of Electrical Standards

  • In depth knowledge of Safety Standards

  • Advanced knowledge of requirements by ISO

  • Solidly organized, with meticulous attention to detail

  • Experience with structured problem-solving methodology

  • Able to work under intense time pressure in the presence others

  • Mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio / Project, Jira, Confluence

  • Travel is included, including some internationally may be required from time to time

  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills

  • Fluent in English language skills
