About the role
Team Leader Manufacturing Test Development
India, Malaysia
The Nokia NI Supply Chain Fixed Networks Test Engineering team is a worldwide team responsible for designing and maintaining manufacturing test solutions for the full Fixed Networks portfolio, including mainly GPON technologies, both for Home equipment as Central Office equipment.
Currently, Nokia is expanding its hardware design capabilities in Kuala Lumpur, and to support the related hardware testing for volume testing, we are looking for a Manufacturing Test Engineering Team Leader.
Your responsibilities
- Strategic Test Planning – Collaborate with hardware development engineers to define and evolve comprehensive test strategies for Fixed-Networks products, aligning them with product roadmaps and manufacturing constraints.
- Solution Architecture & Delivery – Lead the design, development, and rollout of fully or partially automated functional, system, and traffic test solutions across global manufacturing sites, guaranteeing consistent validation of each produced unit.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship – Provide technical direction, coaching, and performance feedback to the test engineering team; foster a culture of best-practice adoption, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
- Supplier Enablement – Serve as the primary technical liaison for manufacturing suppliers, guiding them in the introduction, integration, and maintenance of test solutions and acting as the escalation point for complex issues.
- Data-Driven Improvement – Apply data-analysis techniques (e.g., statistical analysis, trend mining) to identify opportunities for improvement in test processes, product quality, or supplier performance; partner with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions.
- Customer Configuration Automation – Work closely with customer engineering teams to automate product configuration in factories and warehouses, ensuring compliance with customer-specific requirements and delivery schedules.
- Test Infrastructure Management – Oversee the upkeep, scalability, and reliability of test hardware, software, and tooling, ensuring they meet production volume demands and uptime targets.
- Project & Risk Management – Own test-solution project timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation; provide regular status updates and metrics to senior management.
- Documentation & Training – Develop and maintain comprehensive SOPs, test plans, and training materials; ensure knowledge transfer to manufacturing sites and new team members.
- Quality & Compliance Advocacy – Champion a quality-first mindset, ensuring all test solutions adhere to internal standards, industry regulations, and customer specifications.
Your skills and experience
You have:
- 8+ years of experience in test development for telecom/networking hardware, with at least 2 years in a leadership or people-management role.
- Deep expertise in automated functional, system, and traffic testing frameworks and tools.
- Proven track record of deploying test solutions across multiple global manufacturing sites.
- Experience with Manufacturing Test Development (Test Strategy, Development and Maintenance) of Fixed Access Hardware Products
- Experience with Test Automation accross Manufacturing Test Flows (In Circuit Tests,Functional Tests, System Tests and Traffic tests, System Integration and configuration tests), including figure design
- Experience with Fixed Access Product Configuration and Automation
- Proficiency with Python and at least one of the following: TestStand, C/C++ with object-oriented design and development of complex software systems.
- Proficiency with data-analysis tools and statistical methods for process improvement.
- Familiarity with GPON/EPON technologies and hands-on experience with Digital Circuit systems design with better OLT and ONT background.
- Familiarity with Wi-Fi RF, antennas hardware design, test and certification.
- Strong understanding of Ethernet,TCP/IP networking, routing and switching principles
- Direct involvement in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for manufacturing issues.
- Fluency in English. Chinese is a strong plus.
