Italy

In an increasingly connected world, the pandemic has highlighted just how essential telecom networks are to keeping society running. The Network Infrastructure group is at the heart of a revolution to connectivity, pushing the boundaries to deliver more and faster network capacity to people worldwide through our ambition, innovation, and technical expertise

Join Optical Networks division, where innovation meets scale in the AI-driven data center era. With the recent acquisition of Infinera, we’ve united two industry leaders to create an optical networking powerhouse—combining cutting-edge technology with proven leadership to redefine the future of connectivity.

Nokia’s Hardware Development Organization is seeking a Hardware Project Manager to lead the execution and evolution of next‑generation hardware products, leveraging Nokia’s in‑house Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technologies.

In this role, you will be part of a high‑impact team that is redefining how the world connects, collaborates, and experiences digital content. Nokia’s Intelligent Transport Network enables unprecedented speed, capacity, and scalability—unlocking a future where bandwidth is no longer a limitation. You will contribute directly to products that power the networks of tomorrow.

If you thrive in an environment with world‑class talent, high ownership, and the agility to turn ideas into action quickly, Nokia offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at global scale.

Your responsibilities

  • Own and execute integrated project plans across requirements, design, verification, and validation phases
  • Partner closely with Technical Leaders and cross‑functional leads to drive execution scalability and ensure clear ownership and accountability for deliverables
  • Establish and maintain rigorous project tracking, milestone reporting, and action follow‑up
  • Continuously identify, assess, and manage technical and program risks, working with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Track and report weekly progress against development milestones, highlighting risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans
  • Proactively identify issues, forecast impacts, and define corrective actions
  • Foster an open, collaborative, and results‑driven working environment across global cross‑functional teams
  • Monitor project performance against short‑ and long‑term objectives using appropriate project management tools
  • Ensure project deliverables meet agreed constraints, including Time‑to‑Market (TTM) and budget targets
  • Provide regular, concise project status updates to senior management
  • Lead post‑mortem and lessons‑learned reviews to drive continuous improvement

Your skills and experience

  • Proven ability to deliver complex hardware development programs on time and within scope
  • Strong program and project management discipline with excellent execution skills
  • Demonstrated success building effective relationships across engineering, operations, and business stakeholders
  • Solid leadership, decision‑making, and problem‑solving abilities
  • Agile mindset with the ability to adapt and perform effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment
  • Self‑driven, innovative, analytical, and detail‑oriented
  • Highly organized, with strong prioritization and time‑management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex technical topics for diverse audiences
  • Experience working across global, multicultural teams and bridging cultural differences
  • Familiarity with product development lifecycle tools, defect tracking systems, test case management tools, Agile frameworks, and project planning tools
  • Proficiency with MS Project and Microsoft Excel

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar); Master’s degree is a plus
  • 5–10 years of experience in hardware project or product management
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry is highly desirable
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is a plus
