About the role
Mechanical Research Engineer Description - HP Indigo develops and manufactures some of the world’s most advanced digital printing systems—large-scale, high-performance machines that combine precision mechanics, advanced electronics, sophisticated software, materials science, and complex process control. We are looking for a Mechanical Research Engineer to join our R&D Supplies organization and drive the research, design, and development of innovative mechanical solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for developing prototypes, building experimental setups, analyzing performance data, and delivering reliable, high-quality mechanical systems from concept through product release. The position requires strong technical ownership, engineering excellence, and the ability to solve complex multidisciplinary challenges. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, translate system requirements into robust mechanical designs, and lead engineering activities that improve product performance, reliability, and manufacturability. Key Responsibilities Lead subsystem development activities, translating system and customer requirements into technical requirements, design solutions, and structured execution plans through product release. Perform mechanical design and development activities, including concept generation, engineering calculations, trade-off analysis, tolerance analysis, material selection, and design optimization. Drive multidisciplinary integration efforts across mechanical, electrical, software, and system engineering teams to ensure successful product development. Design and execute experiments, prototype testing, and validation activities to evaluate performance and support design decisions. Utilize simulation and analytical tools to validate designs against performance, reliability, and environmental requirements. Participate in design reviews and technical discussions, presenting engineering solutions, trade-offs, risks, and mitigation plans. Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex engineering challenges, product performance issues, and customer escalations. Support manufacturing and production processes, including machining, injection molding, extrusion, and sheet metal fabrication. Job Requirements BSc in Mechanical Engineering – Must MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, System Engineering, or equivalent field – Advantage 7–10 years of experience as an R&D Mechanical Engineer in a multidisciplinary environment. Knowledge and Skills Strong experience with mechanical design methodologies and engineering tools for developing components and complex systems. Proven ability to apply analytical modeling, simulations, and experimental validation methods to support design decisions. Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to address complex technical challenges. Experience in mechanism development, machined components, sheet metal design, and material selection. Strong understanding of motion control systems, electronics, and software interfaces. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts, design proposals, and recommendations to diverse stakeholders, including senior management. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams. Team leadership experience – Advantage. #LIPOST Job - Engineering Schedule - Full time Shift - No shift premium (Israel) Travel - Relocation - Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO) - HP, Inc. provides equal employment opportunity to all employees and prospective employees, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, sexual orientation, age, disability, or status as a protected veteran, marital status, familial status, physical or mental disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic predisposition or carrier status, uniformed service status, political affiliation or any other characteristic protected by applicable national, federal, state, and local law(s).
