SENIOR MANAGER, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

Position Summary... We are seeking a highly skilled, technical and people manager - Senior Engineering Manager to join our team. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers, driving technical strategy, and ensuring the successful design, development, testing, deployment, operations & maintenance of your stack. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements and collaborate with other engineers to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

What you'll do... About Team: The Acquisition and Discovery Engineering team at Walmart is dedicated to providing a seamless and delightful shopping experience to millions of shoppers worldwide. As a software engineer in this team, you will have the opportunity to work on top of the funnel shopping experience – Homepage, Content Pages for SEO and SEM, Search & Browse experiences, Deals and Item pages across mobile and web platforms. This collaborative team made up of Engineering, UX, Product Management, Business and Analytics is rapidly iterating on new products and site features at scale. We deliver high performing solutions on our next generation front-end platform. Virtual Try-On, Gen AI integration, personalized complete-the-look, Video shopping, etc are just a few examples of the features developed by this team in collaboration with many other teams. Continuous experimentation, innovation and feedback by millions of customers makes this work even more exciting! What you will do: Manage the software development team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and conducting performance evaluations to build a high-performing organization. Oversee the design, development, and implementation of software applications across various platforms (iOS, Android, Web). Supervise the development of the orchestration layer and changes to microservices backend systems to ensure seamless integration and functionality. Work closely with other teams to understand business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and collaborate with stakeholders including product managers and designers to deliver high-quality software solutions. Develop project timelines, allocate resources effectively, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget while meeting quality standards and customer expectations. Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team, fostering an environment of continuous learning, innovation, and engineering excellence. What'll you bring: An Engineering Degree - B.E/B.Tech/MS in any stream – Computer Science preferred. 14+ years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years of experience with agile principles and practices, with proven experience leading Scrum teams. Proven experience in a similar engineering leadership role, preferably within the e-commerce industry. Extensive knowledge of one of the mobile (iOS, Android) application development platforms and web development (JS frameworks), orchestration layers, interaction with backend systems, and CMS tools. Deep expertise in architecture and design patterns, cloud-native microservices, and building resilient, reliable, high-quality software. Strong technical mindset with hands-on product development experience, the ability to deep-dive into complex technical issues, and staying current with the latest industry trends and technologies. Strong leadership and team management skills, including matrix management, with the ability to mentor and motivate a high-performing team. Strong problem-solving skills, with a creative approach to overcoming challenges. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Excellent project management skills, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area. Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area. 2 years’ supervisory experience.
