Position Summary...

As a Software Engineer III in the Data Services organization in Walmart, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining high-quality software solutions in the database platform engineering domain. We are seeking engineers who combine engineering excellence in datastore fleet management, automating operational workflows with a collaborative mindset and a passion for customer-centric problem solving. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to deliver robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions for the cloud and data foundations organization that power one of the world’s largest retail platform

About the team

The Database Frameworks is part of the Data Services organization in Walmart. The Database Frameworks team’s mission includes abstraction layers to provide data access, data lifecycle management and DB credential management aspects for the datastores. By building intuitive, standards-based DB abstraction layers —the team enables developers in the Walmart Global Tech organization to work efficiently across diverse database management systems deployed as PaaS and IaaS solutions. The mission is to abstract away platform-specific details, accelerate development, and ensure portability and scalability for Walmart’s applications, supporting our multi-cloud strategy with best-of-breed datastore technology landscape

What You’ll Do

• Develop credential management frameworks and tools to improve the security posture for Datastore technologies like AzureSQL, Spanner, Cosmos, Postgres etc.

• Develop production-grade software for DB fleet management using Java / similar languages, adhering to best practices in code quality, performance, and maintainability.

• Design and implement automations for workflows which drive operational efficiency and reliability for the SQL and NoSQL database fleet in Walmart.

• Support customer application teams and partner platform teams during incident resolution, demonstrating high customer empathy and a commitment to operational excellence

• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to contribute to design specifications and technical decisions.

• Provide peer mentorship by conducting code reviews, sharing knowledge, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

What You’ll bring

• 3-5 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficiency in Java, with hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining client side frameworks for database access-abstraction layers.

• Working knowledge of at least two datastore technologies, such as CosmosDB, AzureSQL, or Opensearch.

• Workflow automation using AI engineering tools and Frameworks

• Working knowledge of devops tools such as Jenkins, Ansible.

Minimum Qualifications...
