Position Summary... What you'll do... About the team: The Transactions Engineering team part of Pre Purchase Experience Organization owns the platforms and services that power Walmart's customer purchasing journey—from Cart creation through Checkout, Payments, and Tender Planning. The team builds and operates highly scalable, secure, and resilient transaction systems that enable millions of customers to seamlessly complete purchases across digital and physical channels. The organization is responsible for ensuring a frictionless customer experience during the highest-intent stage of the shopping journey while safeguarding revenue, maintaining financial integrity, and supporting omnichannel commerce capabilities. The team partners closely with Product, Business, Finance, Operations, Risk, and Compliance organizations to deliver innovative transaction experiences that accelerate growth, increase customer trust, and improve operational effectiveness. What you'll do Own the end-to-end Cart, Checkout, Payments, and Tender Planning transaction experience, driving higher purchase completion, faster time-to-purchase, and reduced customer drop-off at the point of highest purchase intent. Lead the modernization of Cart and Checkout platforms, enabling the business to scale revenue efficiently while improving platform resilience, operational efficiency, and speed of delivery for new commerce capabilities. Enable flexible payment and tender experiences across Cart and Checkout, expanding customer choice while supporting improved order completion, offer attachment, and monetization outcomes. Ensure financial integrity, security, and regulatory compliance across all customer transactions, protecting revenue, reducing financial risk, and strengthening customer trust at enterprise scale. Deliver seamless omni-channel transaction experiences that allow customers to move consistently across digital and physical touchpoints, improving customer satisfaction and loyalty. Reduce revenue leakage and post-purchase friction originating in Cart and Checkout by improving pricing, tax, payment, and transaction accuracy, while minimizing refunds, adjustments, and customer support escalations. Ensure high performance, scalability, and availability of transaction platforms during peak demand periods, safeguarding revenue and customer experience through seasonal, promotional, and high-traffic events. Partner closely with Product, Business, Finance, and Operations leaders to translate growth strategies into scalable transaction capabilities that accelerate business outcomes. Build and scale high-performing engineering organizations responsible for mission-critical transaction platforms, improving execution velocity, operational reliability, and long-term platform ownership. Improve Cart-to-Order conversion across Buy Now and Checkout flows, ensuring transaction performance scales effectively with customer growth, business expansion, and peak traffic events. Deliver industry-leading reliability, availability, and scalability for revenue-critical transaction platforms, maintaining customer trust and supporting uninterrupted business operations. Strengthen operational excellence by reducing incident frequency, accelerating recovery times, and improving overall platform stability and engineering effectiveness. Accelerate time-to-market for new transaction, payment, checkout, and tender capabilities through improved engineering velocity, platform reuse, and automation. Ensure continuous compliance with PCI, SOX, privacy, and regional regulatory requirements while maintaining robust security controls and audit readiness. Leverage AI, automation, and platform engineering practices to improve developer productivity, operational efficiency, and delivery predictability. Build a strong engineering culture focused on accountability, talent development, innovation, career growth, and leadership succession. Foster strong cross-functional partnerships to deliver measurable business outcomes, balancing customer experience, financial performance, operational excellence, and long-term platform sustainability. What You Will Bring 15+ years of industry experience leading and scaling engineering organizations, with a demonstrated ability to establish clear ownership models, organizational structures, and leadership accountability. Strong business and strategic acumen, with a proven ability to navigate complex cross-functional environments and deliver measurable business impact. Deep technical leadership experience at scale, including architecture, platform modernization, distributed systems, and long-term technology strategy. Proven track record of driving Engineering and Operational Excellence through metrics-driven governance, execution rigor, and predictable delivery. Experience leveraging AI, automation, and engineering productivity tools to accelerate execution while maintaining quality and reliability. Demonstrated ability to balance delivery speed with engineering fundamentals, ensuring scalable, secure, and resilient solutions. Strong commitment to engineering excellence across architecture, software development practices, quality engineering, testing, observability, and operational resilience. Proven ability to build an innovation-led culture that encourages ownership, experimentation, continuous improvement, and customer-centric thinking. Successful delivery of large-scale, complex programs requiring alignment across multiple engineering teams, business leaders, and stakeholders. Strong executive presence and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decisions and drive alignment across Product, Business, and Senior Leadership teams.
