Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our Billing organization in Hyderabad, India as a full stack engineer responsible for implementing modern, cutting edge architectural patterns across the application stack. This hands-on role requires close collaboration with architects and engineering teams to deliver high quality solutions aligned with The Hartford’s technology roadmap. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with Java, Angular, AWS services, Oracle databases, API development, microservices, and event driven architectures, with a demonstrated focus on security, resiliency, and performance. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain microservices supporting billing transactions, payment processing, and account lifecycle events using Java Spring Boot and API integrations using AWS technologies. Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, test coverage, and adherence to engineering standards. Design and develop modern, user centric UI components following frontend best practices and accessibility guidelines. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across multiple platforms built using Java, Angular, Oracle PL/SQL , AWS, UNIX. Develop and deploy solutions using AWS cloud services like AWS Lambda. Ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for security, scalability, and performance. Participate in Agile development processes, Partner with stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliver high-quality solutions. Assist in documenting solutions, processes, and best practices. Drive continuous improvement and introduce innovative ideas that bring measurable business impact. Build POCs and prototypes to validate ideas and accelerate delivery. Coordinate with engineering and product teams across time zones to ensure aligned, timely delivery. Required Skills & Experience 7-10 years of experience in software engineering with cloud and automation solutions. Demonstrated ability to lead design, implementation, code quality, and delivery across distributed services in a hybrid environment. Ability to leverage AI tools and Copilot to improve productivity in day-to-day tasks, including development, debugging, documentation, and automation workflows Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience working in Agile teams. Key Technical Skills Programming & Frameworks: Java, J2EE, Web Services, Spring Boot, Unix Front-End Technologies: Angular, HTML, CSS API Development: RESTful services, Swagger, API Gateway, REST/JSON Database Technologies: Oracle PL/SQL, RDS/Aurora Cloud Platforms & Compute: AWS (Lambda, ECS/EKS, Step Functions, Fargate) Data & Storage: S3, ElastiCache/Redis Security & Governance: OWASP standards, secure coding practices, IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, encryption, APIC Integration & Messaging: SNS/SQS DevOps & Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps) Testing: JUnit, NUnit, integration testing, TDD/BDD Nice to Have Skills Experience with Terraform/Cloud Formations. Knowledge of rules frameworks, including configuration and maintenance, is a strong plus. Prior experience in enterprise-scale IT operations or insurance domain.
