Special Operations Technician, Supercharging & Mobile Megapack Operations
| Job Category | Charging | | Location | Los Angeles, California | | Req. ID | 275292 | | Job Type | Full-time |
What to Expect
Tesla is seeking elite field technicians to join our Special Ops Team—a high-performance unit dedicated to troubleshooting, maintaining, and deploying Tesla's mobile Supercharger stations and Mobile Megapack systems. This is not a routine job. You'll be on the front lines of Tesla's energy infrastructure—diagnosing and resolving complex electrical issues in real-world field environments, often with short notice and zero margin for error.
This role is 80% travel. You'll be deployed across the U.S. and globally, supporting critical operations from remote sites to urban hubs. Holiday work is required as you'll be part of the team that keeps Tesla's systems running when it matters most. If you thrive under pressure, love solving tough technical problems, and are ready to live on the move, this is your mission.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot and repair mobile Supercharger stations (480VAC systems) in the field diagnosing faults in power distribution, control systems, and DC fast charging components
- Diagnose and resolve issues with Mobile Megapack systems including battery modules, inverters, cooling, and control electronics
- Use schematics, test equipment (multimeters, clamp meters, isolation meters), and digital tools to identify root causes quickly and perform safety critical tasks: LOTO, grounding, hazard assessment, and isolation procedures
- Conduct system commissioning, testing, and validation after repairs or deployments
- Maintain accurate work logs, case reports, and as-built documentation via Tesla’s field platform
- Support rapid deployment teams across the U.S. and globally often with short notice travel
- Operate Tesla issued vehicles, tools, and mobile workstations with precision
What You’ll Bring
- 1–4+ years of electrical trades experience with 480VAC systems (industrial, commercial, or mobile)
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems and interpret schematics and experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, isolation meters, and field diagnostics
- CPR + Low Voltage Rescue certification. Reach Forklift, Boom Lift, Manlift, or similar certification
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs. frequently, work at heights, and perform repetitive tasks in extreme conditions
- Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office, cloud-based platforms, Tesla internal tools
- Willingness and ability to travel 80% of the time for up to 2 weeks at a time, including weekends, holidays, and overtime. Valid driver’s license & government-issued ID
- Willingness to do whatever it takes to get the task at hand completed is highly preferred. High initiative, adaptability, and resilience—able to work independently and in fast-moving team
