Looking for a Simulation and Data Engineer to join the Factory Planning & Systems Team at Tesla. This role combines discrete event simulation with data analysis to solve capacity, throughput, and efficiency challenges across the complete Gigafactory. You'll work with cross-functional teams to drive planning decisions and deliver tangible improvements to production.

What You’ll Do

  • Gather and analyze manufacturing, equipment, and vehicle data using SQL and statistical tools to identify failure patterns, performance trends, and key inputs for simulation models

  • Leverage AI and automation tools to accelerate data analysis, model development, and reporting workflows

  • Build, calibrate, and maintain discrete event simulation models to evaluate capacity, test scenarios, and support manufacturing planning decisions

  • Interpret simulation outputs to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies; develop and present data-driven improvement recommendations

  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and planning teams to communicate findings, align on priorities, and support implementation of approved improvements

  • Manage multiple simulation projects simultaneously; prioritize tasks based on business impact and deadlines, and communicate progress and tradeoffs to stakeholders

  • Document model assumptions, methodologies, and validation results to ensure models are reproducible and auditable by the team

What You’ll Bring

  • BS in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field; MS preferred

  • Experience with discrete event simulation (FlexSim preferred, Plant Simulation, AnyLogic, Arena, or similar)

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools: SQL, Excel, Python, and visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, statistical methods, and AI-driven automation tools

  • Exposure to high-volume manufacturing environments (automotive is a plus)

  • Familiarity with manufacturing KPIs (OEE, throughput, cycle time, availability)

  • Strong analytical reasoning, ability to break down complex problems, question assumptions, and learn new concepts quickly

  • Clear verbal and written communication, able to explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders

  • Self-driven and organized, manages priorities independently and takes ownership of work end-to-end

  • Fluent in English
