Objective of the position The Warranty Engineer is responsible for managing the warranty system for assigned products and sites in a structured, timely, and well-documented manner, ensuring alignment with both internal and external customer expectations. This role contributes to improving product quality and reducing costs by implementing a proactive approach to warranty management and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Warranty Engineer identifies and escalates issues as appropriate, while ensuring full compliance with quality systems and documentation standards. In addition, the role requires effective collaboration within cross-functional teams, often involving direct engagement with customers. Characterization of activities Lead cross-functional corrective actions and root cause analysis (8D) to drive continuous improvement and reduce warranty costs. Review, validate, and approve warranty reports while ensuring customer charge compliance and managing disputes where needed. Monitor and analyze warranty data (claims, trends, health charts) identify risks, escalate issues, and support decision-making. Manage warranty systems and data, including maintaining databases, retrieving information from customer portals, and ensuring accurate reporting. Conduct warranty part analysis and deliver customer-ready reports with clear conclusions and recommendations. Drive warranty improvement initiatives by collaborating with Engineering and Quality teams, supporting committees, mentoring teams, and capturing lessons learned. Education, Experience and Knowledge Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent) with solid automotive industry experience, preferably in manufacturing, quality, or product engineering. Strong knowledge of quality methodologies and core tools (5 Whys, Ishikawa, 8D, A3, APQP, MSA, SPC, PPAP, FMEA). Advanced analytical skills, including data handling, visualization, and the ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets. Experience or exposure to embedded software and hardware is an advantage. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across all organizational levels. Strong organizational, analytical, and collaborative skills; experience in global project teams is a plus. What we offer (NL) Salary based on knowledge and experience. Full-time employment of 40 hours per week. 8% holiday allowance. Travel allowance home-work: 23ct per kilometer one way up to a maximum of 50 km CAO: Metalektro HP Retirement: PME (Pensioenfonds Metalektro). WIA: WIA floor, WGA gap and WGA gap additional insurances in accordance with the stipulated provisions. PAWW: Compulsory supplementary insurance when the statutory unemployment WW or WGA benefit expires. Holiday days: 27 days on an annual basis (full-time).
