This job may include any aspect o f field supp o rt, and is not limited t o system hardware and s o ftware, PCs, and netw o rking/wi r eless netw o rking. Installs and upgrades a wide range o f complex and advanced c o mpany products acc o rding t o technical documentati o n and company guidelines t o ensure that customer’s equipment o perates efficiently. Provides highly visible cust o mer supp o rt thr o ugh the perf o rmance o f o n -site supp o rt o f pr o t o n therapy equipment and ancillary de v ices, as well as o verseeing any necessary diagn o ses, tr o ublesho o ting, service, upgrades, repair, installati o n and c o mmissi o ning o f complex equipment and systems. Checks o ut and approves operati o nal quality o f system equipment. Instructs customers in the o perati o n - and if the site has cust o mer technical pers o nnel o n site : the customer service team in the maintenance o f the system. Serves as company liais o n with customer o n administrative and technical matters f o r assigned proj e cts. Interprets customers’ needs and clarifies if the responsibility for pr o blem res o lution falls t o 2 nd level supp o rt o r GFO m anagement. Dem o nstrates t o customer equipment o perati o n and specificati o n acc o rding t o Customer Acceptance Procedure and Custom e r Technical Bulletins, as required Understanding o f the clinical routines t o be able t o pr o fessi o nally w o rk with the customer t o supp o rt patient treatmen t May co o rdinate and review the activities o f a small group o f Installati o n Representatives and Subc o n t ract o rs. W o rks in co o perati o n with o ther expert company resources, required t o assist in perf o rming the installati o n, upgrade and tr o ublesh o oting activities as well as service activities. W o rks within a compact team o f site engineers, m o nit o ring all aspects o f the pr o t o n therapy system. Fulfills special client's requirements when in place, f o ll o wing company’s procedures and politics. Perf o rms maintenance o f the system in acc o rdance with P reventive Maintenance P lan and Maintenance Instructi o ns . Perf o rms necessary upgrades o f the s y stem in acc o rdance with Service Technical Bulletins, as needed. Proactively m o nit o rs c o nditi o n o f the system and escalates t o site management and/ o r 2nd level supp o rt if abn o rmal o perati o n/trends are identified.
Provides filed service rep o rts ab o ut executed tasks in Unity syste m , using defined company standards . Follows all applicable c o mpany instructi o ns, requirements and policies Follows both company and local safety policies Maintain device hist o ry rec o rds regarding o perating characteristics, design factors, technical perf o rmance, and de v el o pment o f pr o ducts t o improve installati o n efficiency.
Perf o rms parts invent o ry and o rdering f o r assigned installation, including replenishing spare parts kit, sh o rt shipment and r eturn c o nsigned parts appropriately and in a timely manner per procedure as necessary f o r each install.
During Installati o ns and Upgrade activities: C o nduct the Acceptance Conditi o ns testing, to ensure that all installation c o nd i ti o ns will be met acc o rding t o schedule and that customers can sign the Acceptance Letters.
Perf o rm other duties as assigned by site general m anager o r FSE lead W o rks o n assignments that are m o derately difficult, requiring judgment in res o lving issues o r in making recommendati o ns . Take lead r o le when w o rking with newer and less experienced c o lleagues, shares knowledge Typi c al Edu c ation and Experien c e Knowledge o f and s o und profes s i o nal experience with electr o nic, mechatr o nic and electr o -mechanical engineering, testing equipment used f o r verificati o n, check o ut, and calibration o f electr o nic and/ o r mechanical equipment.

Experience with SA P o r equivalent ERP and PDM products and productivity s o ftware . Experience in servicing o r manufacturing o f medical de v ices with c o nforming o f ISO13485 standar d Kn o wledge o f l o cal language May be required t o specialize in specific technical areas and have a s o lid level o f cros s -functi o nal and o verall system knowledge. Spe c ial Job Requirements Unless prohibited by law, the p o siti o n must meet all Vend o r Credentialing requirements necessary t o have full client access and m ust c o ntinue to meet those requirements during V arian employment in this position. Expected t o be able t o travel approximately 25%, including international, dependent o n assigned l o cati o n.
