We are seeking a Principal or Staff Data Engineer to join our IOPS IT team, building the data infrastructure and pipelines that power data-driven decision-making across the organization. In this role, you will architect and optimize scalable data solutions, drive technical standards, and mentor junior engineers — while collaborating with partners across Manufacturing, Quality, and IT to deliver reliable, governed, and innovative data capabilities. When & where: Location: Raheen, Limerick County Work model: Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm

Discover your role: Architect and optimize secure, scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) for real-time and batch processing, integrating diverse data sources and establishing CI/CD practices and fault-tolerant systems Design data lake and warehouse solutions that ensure large datasets are organized, accessible, and of high quality; implement data modeling and schema design aligned to business needs Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement observability and alerting systems to maintain reliability across the data platform Ensure adherence to data governance policies and industry regulatory requirements including 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, and CSA; maintain comprehensive system documentation Leverage GenAI and MCP/orchestration platforms to enhance team efficiency and drive infrastructure innovation Define technical standards and design complex data engineering solutions that scale across the organization Mentor junior engineers, contribute to team capability growth, and serve as a technical leader across data engineering initiatives Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala; deep SQL expertise and relational database experience required Experience with NoSQL and big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka; stream processing experience (Kafka, Flink) a plus Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Luigi, Prefect, or similar) and containerization technologies required Familiarity with Biotech Enterprise Systems including MES, LIMS, and QMS preferred Knowledge of data security, compliance requirements, and regulatory standards including CFR Part 11 and GxP in regulated environments Cloud certifications a plus

This role requires: BS/BA in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field; Master's degree preferred Principal: 8+ years of relevant experience, including 1+ years in biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences and 3+ years on cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) Staff: 10+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years in biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences and 5+ years on cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) Does this sound like you?
