General Summary:

General Summary Qualcomm is seeking a Sr. IT Engineer to join the team responsible for supporting and operating enterprise source code management and developer collaboration platforms. This role will provide operational coverage aligned with US time zones and will play a key part in maintaining the reliability, availability, and supportability of critical Git-based systems, including Gerrit, GitHub, and GitLab.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in site reliability engineering, production operations, platform support, and automation, with the ability to manage day-to-day operational tasks such as incident triage, ticket support, monitoring, access requests, and platform health activities. In addition to operational support, this engineer may contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, tooling enhancements, and backlog stories as business needs permit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of IT, systems engineering, DevOps, SRE, or related work experience; or Master’s degree in a related field and 2+ years of relevant work experience; or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications, platforms, or infrastructure in a production environment.

  • 2+ years of experience with Linux/Unix system administration, troubleshooting, and operational support.

  • 2+ years of experience with scripting or automation using tools such as Python, Shell, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise Git-based source code management platforms such as GitHub, GitLab, and/or Gerrit.

  • Experience in production operations, incident response, on-call support, service restoration, and problem management.

  • Familiarity with SRE and DevOps practices, including monitoring, alerting, observability, operational excellence, and automation.

  • Experience with monitoring and log analysis tools such as Splunk, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar platforms.

  • Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and system integration tools such as Jenkins, Github/Gitlab Runners, Chef, Terraform, Kubernetes, or related technologies.

  • Knowledge of authentication, authorization, access management, and repository administration concepts.

  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across global teams and time zones.

  • Ability to balance operational execution with long-term platform reliability and continuous improvement.

  • Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support day-to-day operations of enterprise Git platforms, including Gerrit, GitHub, and GitLab.

  • Triage and resolve operational tickets, service requests, user issues, and platform support cases within defined service expectations.

  • Investigate and respond to production incidents, alerts, and platform issues; drive timely restoration and communicate status to stakeholders.

  • Monitor system health, logs, metrics, and alerts to proactively identify and address reliability, availability, and performance risks.

  • Execute operational procedures related to platform maintenance, change support, upgrades, validations, and service readiness activities.

  • Support access-related tasks, repository support, and general user enablement across supported Git platforms.

  • Contribute to root cause analysis, recurring issue elimination, and service improvement efforts.

  • Develop and maintain runbooks, operational documentation, standard procedures, and support knowledge.

  • Collaborate closely with US-based engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure smooth handoff, issue follow-up, and aligned support coverage.

  • Contribute to automation, tooling, and engineering backlog stories when operational bandwidth permits.

  • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Interfaces with internal users, engineering teams, infrastructure teams, and partner organizations to support business-critical development platforms.

Minimum Qualifications

  • • 3+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree. OR 5+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
