About the role
Have you taken apart a smartphone or computer? Have you explored every menu on a new piece of software except the Help menu? Did you ever wonder how to speed up the microprocessor in your laptop? This is the kind of person who becomes a successful Test Engineer at NXP Semiconductor. We want someone who sees a problem and wants to solve it. We want someone who is observant of small details that might explain a problem. We want someone who always looks for alternative ways to do things faster, cheaper, or better. We want someone who says "I can write a piece of software to do that". What is a Test Engineer? Here's the job's mission: guarantee that the millions of transistors in a microprocessor are working and will continue to work for the next five years under any environmental conditions, and you must do it faster than it takes most laptops to boot up. In this career you will learn the finer points of going from an idea for the next NXP microprocessor to having a fully qualified product shipping millions of units per month. You will work with very smart people with multiple specialties to understand what makes a microprocessor work, and more importantly what causes them to fail. You will draw upon your classwork for microprocessor architecture, logic design, design simulation, analog circuitry, CMOS transistor device physics, high frequency signal propagation, programming, statistics, and many other areas. You may not know our products but you have probably used them daily. NXP's microprocessors are found throughout today’s smartest cars. Job Qualifications: Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (December 2026 or later graduates considered) Knowledge of integrated circuits Microcontroller or microprocessor knowledge Strong software skills in some of the following areas; C/C++, Python, JavaScript, Visual Basic, or .NET. Basic experience with Linux Some course work experience with VHDL/Verilog simulations Familiarity with Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) a plus Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills More information about NXP in the United States...
