About the role
Description Summary: The Senior Manager, Enterprise Data Catalog leads the strategy, execution, and continuous evolution of Huntington’s enterprise data catalog product, powered by the Alation platform. This leader is responsible for positioning the data catalog as the enterprise knowledge layer that enables trusted data discovery, business context, governance, operational scale, and AI readiness across the organization. This role will lead a team of product capability leads and analysts responsible for planning, delivering, and continuously enhancing catalog capabilities that drive adoption and measurable business value. The Senior Manager will bring strong hands-on experience with Alation, scaled agile product management, team leadership, and solution-oriented delivery. This leader will be accountable for defining the product roadmap, prioritizing feature releases, structuring the team for scale, and driving disciplined work planning and execution across a complex enterprise environment. The Senior Manager will partner closely with business, technology, governance, analytics, architecture, risk, and control stakeholders to ensure the data catalog delivers practical capabilities that improve metadata quality, search and discovery, stewardship, lineage, business glossary, policy alignment, and end-user experience. Duties and Responsibilities: Set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the enterprise data catalog product, anchored in Alation and aligned to enterprise data, governance, and AI priorities Position the data catalog as the enterprise knowledge layer by connecting technical metadata, business context, governance processes, ownership, policy, and usage to support trusted decision-making and AI enablement Lead the product management function for the data catalog, including roadmap development, feature prioritization, release planning, backlog management, and value realization Own delivery of data catalog capabilities and feature releases, ensuring work is solution-oriented, well-sequenced, and tied to adoption, operational readiness, and business outcomes Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of data catalog product capability leads and analysts, with clear ownership, work planning discipline, and accountability for results Design and mature the team operating model, including role clarity, capacity planning, prioritization routines, agile ceremonies, intake management, and dependency management Partner with stakeholders across business and technology to identify needs, define solutions, and translate enterprise requirements into scalable catalog capabilities and roadmap priorities Drive optimization and expansion of Alation capabilities, including but not limited to data discovery, business glossary, stewardship workflows, lineage, policy integration, search experience, curation, and operating model enablement Serve as a hands-on leader with deep knowledge of Alation administration, implementation patterns, configuration decisions, and enterprise deployment considerations Lead cross-functional solution design for catalog enhancements and integrations, ensuring capabilities are practical, scalable, and support enterprise ways of working Establish and monitor product goals, success metrics, and operational performance indicators related to adoption, feature usage, onboarding throughput, metadata health, and delivery execution Ensure disciplined release management by coordinating business readiness, communications, training, documentation, and post-release measurement Partner with governance, risk, privacy, and data management stakeholders to ensure the catalog supports enterprise control requirements and strengthens trust in critical data assets Guide teams in identifying metadata, process, and platform gaps and developing actionable solutions that improve user experience and increase platform value Lead the continuous improvement of catalog-related processes, job aids, standards, and documentation to support scale, repeatability, and strong execution Provide thought leadership on how metadata, business context, and governance capabilities support next-generation analytics and AI use cases Build strong partnerships across the enterprise and influence senior stakeholders on priorities, tradeoffs, sequencing, and investment needs Manage, coach, and develop direct reports, including other people leaders where applicable Lead through change and model strong leadership, execution discipline, collaboration, and customer focus Perform other duties as assigned Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience 10+ years of experience working with data, metadata and reference data frameworks, and experience in metadata and/or data quality monitoring 7+ years of experience leading work efforts and managing toward deadlines, and developing high-performing teams 5+ years of related experience in strategy, management consulting, or similar skillset Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years of hands-on experience with the Alation Data Catalog platform 3+ years of experience working in a Scaled Agile environment Strong product management mindset with experience defining product vision, leading release cycles, managing backlogs, and driving measurable adoption Strong solution-oriented thinking with the ability to translate business needs into practical, scalable platform capabilities Experience building work plans, managing delivery against deadlines, and driving accountable execution across multiple priorities Experience partnering with architecture, engineering, analytics, risk, control, privacy, and business stakeholders Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution and operational rigor Strong communication, executive presence, and stakeholder management skills Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, influence priorities, and deliver outcomes in a matrixed environment Experience supporting AI readiness, data discovery, and trusted data
