Software Application Engineer Description - Job Summary • This role is responsible for developing software solutions that address specific user needs or business challenges. The role designs, codes, and implements software applications using appropriate programming languages, frameworks, and tools. The role works closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, provide technical insights, and ensure the successful execution of projects. Responsibilities • Designs, develops, and implements software applications according to specifications, using appropriate programming languages and technologies. • Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on specific objectives and established project guidelines. • Designs limited enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of end-user applications software running on local, networked, and Internet- based platforms. • Executes and writes portions of testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs issues with code and suggests changes or improvements. • Identifies opportunities for performance improvements and optimizes code and application performance. • Provides ongoing maintenance, updates, and bug fixes to ensure software applications remain functional and up-to-date. • Collaborates on software development projects with the engineering, sales, and customer services departments. • Supports internal and external software products; generates ideas for software innovation based on market trends. • Participates as a member of project team of other software applications engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for assigned applications portion or subsystem. • Collaborates and communicates with internal and outsourced development partners regarding software applications design status, project progress, and issue resolution. Education & Experience Recommended • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence. • Typically has 4-6 years of work experience, preferably in applications engineering, programming, or a related field or an advanced degree with little or no work experience. • Strong hands-on experience in Go (Golang) for backend service development and concurrent programming • Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers (Protobuf) for high-performance inter-service communication, microservices, and integration patterns • Strong working knowledge of relational database PostgreSQL including schema design, SQL optimization, and indexing • Experience with Redis for caching and low-latency data access • Proficiency in React.js for building responsive and dynamic front-end user interfaces, including experience with hooks, state management (Redux/Context API), and component-based architecture • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Experience supporting or working with pricing/quoting intelligence platform is a plus.
