Role Overview

We're looking for an Analytics Engineer to build the data foundation that powers smarter decisions across GigSafe. There is no dedicated data team yet. You'll be the first, and your primary job is building durable infrastructure – clean pipelines, tested models, a warehouse others can trust and self-serve from. Once that foundation is solid, it opens the door for others (ops, sales, product, and eventually BI/analyst hires) to own more of the day-to-day reporting themselves.

This is a role with full ownership from day one. You'll work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with close collaboration across engineering, ops, sales and product – understanding the business deeply enough to know what's worth building.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the data pipeline and warehouse architecture (dbt, Snowflake/BigQuery) that powers reporting across GigSafe's operator and contractor platforms

• Design and maintain dimensional models and a semantic layer so teams can self-serve trustworthy data instead of depending on you for every request

• Implement testing, documentation, and data quality checks so downstream teams can trust what they're querying

• Partner with engineering to instrument new product and platform events, ensuring the right signals are captured from day one

• Translate GigSafe's operator and contractor economics into the data questions worth answering, and build toward those proactively

• Field early-stage reporting and ad hoc analysis requests while building the infrastructure that reduces that need over time

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in data or analytics engineering, with end-to-end ownership of pipelines and models, not just analysis

• Hands-on with dbt (or Dataform/SQLMesh) and a modern cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift)

• Fluent in Python and SQL, comfortable building and testing production-grade transformation pipelines

• Understands dimensional modeling and semantic layer design for self-serve analytics

• Obsessed with business context: genuinely curious about GigSafe's operators, workers, and economics beyond the technical build

• Comfortable being the sole data hire early on, setting the technical bar without a team around you yet

• PREFERRED

• Gig, marketplace, or last-mile delivery experience

• Startup experience in an early-stage or high-growth environment without a lot of structure

• Operator/customer empathy: has worked close to ops or non-technical end users and understands how they think about data
