Job Description Summary We are seeking a Systems Engineer with strong software and AI expertise to support the transformation of HVDC system design and studies through advanced digital technologies. This role combines power systems engineering with AI/ML and automation to enhance engineering productivity, enable large-scale simulation workflows, and improve system design decision-making. The candidate will act as a technical bridge between traditional HVDC studies and modern AI/ML-driven approaches, ensuring that digital solutions are grounded in core engineering principles. Job Description Essential Responsibilities Perform HVDC system studies including: Insulation coordination, network interaction, reliability, and losses analysis Support system design activities including main scheme design and equipment specification. EMT and RMS simulations using tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, DigSilent, MATLAB, RTDS Develop and maintain Python-based automated workflows for: Large-scale, multi-scenario batch simulations (especially in PSCAD) Study execution, result processing, and reporting Identify opportunities to optimize system study tools and methodologies using: AI/ML-based techniques Data-driven approaches to improve efficiency and accuracy Develop and implement: AI solutions like LLM and RAG-based and AI agents. Bridge the gap between engineering simulation tools and AI/ML frameworks through robust software integration. Serve as a technical interface between HVDC engineering and data science/software teams, ensuring AI-driven insights align with fundamental power system principles. Desired Additional Skills Experience in HVDC / FACTS power system studies or design Strong understanding of Python applications in power system tools and simulations Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks. Knowledge of LLMs, RAG architecture, and agent-based systems Experience with simulation automation and engineering data pipelines Exposure to tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, DigSilent, MATLAB, RTDS Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and modern software architecture Interest in digital engineering, automation, and innovation in power systems Qualifications / Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in: Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred), OR Power systems engineering with exposure to Computer Science / AI / Data Science. 3–5 years of experience in: HVDC / FACTS system studies or power system engineering, OR AI/ML applications in engineering, simulation, or scientific domains Strong programming skills in Python, with application to: Simulation automation, Data processing and Engineering workflows. Understanding of Power system fundamentals and simulation techniques and AI/ML methodologies and their application to engineering problems.
