Job Description Summary The Lead IEC61850 Application Engineer, will be working to define requirements, enhance product features for an IEC 61850 compliant System Configuration Tool, working together with engineers based global locations. The role is accountable for business-critical software development to meet product requirements and timelines for future commercial HVDC projects

Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy. Drive sustenance and feature enhancement of 61850 configuration tool Stay updated with latest development in this protocol and its applications Define requirements and coordinate development of features with the Controls development community Integrate software packages with existing systems and sub-systems. Prepare unit test and regression test specification, release packages and templates. Support software release testing Prepare formal and informal engineering documentation (e.g., Design documents, Requirement specifications, Release reports, etc.) Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or above in, Technology or Engineering. 6 to 8 years of hands-on experience of working with 61850 protocol IEC 61850 standards awareness, working experience with IEC 61850 multi-vendor devices Experience with IEC 61850 9-2 Process Bus Implementation In-depth knowhow in Java Technology Stack – Eclipse Common Platform, Eclipse Modelling Framework (EMF), Graphic Modelling Framework (GMF) Experience with Substation Automation communication protocols. Knowledge on UCA (Utility Communications architecture) test procedures and test tools like Wireshark/MMS client tools Experience with time synchronization protocols like PTP, IRIG-B and, Understanding on redundancy protocols like PRP, HSR Strong can-do attitude and energy level Desired Characteristics Experience with 61850 Configuration tools (Helinks STS preferred) Exposure to Embedded C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink (and/or other auto-coded controls software) Familiarity with modern cybersecurity constructs (e.g., Static Analysis, Digital Signatures etc.) Shown technical problem-solving skills & experience Good verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated experience and track record of success in working with global engineering teams Motivated great teammate, self- starter, results oriented Agile development practices (e.g., Scrum). Power Electronics control system design. Knowledge of HVDC
