Responsibilities
Ensure reliable operation, monitoring, and performance optimisation of SAP ABAP and Java‑based systems, including SAP S/4HANA environments; Plan, coordinate, and govern SAP system installations, upgrades, support package and kernel updates, as well as transport and release management across SAP landscapes; Administer and govern SAP landscapes across on‑premise, hyperscaler, and SAP RISE environments; Ensure and steer SAP system availability, including defined backup and restore strategies and regularly tested disaster recovery readines; Serve as the senior escalation point for complex SAP Basis incidents and problems resolution; Govern SAP Basis activities across in SAP RISE projects and hybrid scenarios; Manage technical interfaces with SAP, hyperscalers and AMS providers; Steer system migrations, conversions (ECC → S/4HANA), and technical cutovers; Ensure compliance with SAP standards, security guidelines, and internal IT policies; Drive automation, standardisation, and documentation of Basis processes; Support audit, compliance, and security activities (authorisation, system hardening); Contribute to capacity planning, cost transparency, and technical system optimisation; Support test activities by ensuring technical system readiness for SIT, UAT, and Go‑Live; Provide technical input for SAP architecture decisions and roadmaps; Mentor junior SAP Basis colleagues and actively share best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or comparable technical qualification; Fluent in English, German nice to have; 7+ years of hands‑on experience in SAP Basis administration within complex enterprise environments; Proven experience operating and supporting SAP S/4HANA systems and heterogeneous SAP landscapes; Mandatory experience with SAP RISE and/or cloud‑based SAP operations (e.g. hyperscaler or hybrid scenarios); Experience supporting SAP transformations, including ECC to S/4HANA conversions and technical cutovers, is highly desirable.
