Job Description

We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead our R&D team in Debrecen. In this role, you will guide a group of engineers in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality software solutions that support Emerson’s innovation agenda. You will foster a collaborative and inclusive environment, balance hands-on technical leadership with people development, and ensure alignment with global engineering standards and business goals.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be

• Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team of software engineers, supporting their growth and engagement
• Drive the delivery of scalable, secure, and maintainable software products within R&D programs
• Collaborate with product management, architecture, and global engineering teams to define roadmaps and priorities
• Ensure adherence to engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, and continuous integration/delivery
• Promote agile ways of working and continuously improve team processes and efficiency
• Manage team capacity, resource planning, and performance outcomes while maintaining a healthy work environment
• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning
• Ensure compliance with company standards, security practices, and regulatory requirements

For This Role, You Will Need

• Experience leading or mentoring software engineering teams in a professional environment
• Strong understanding of modern software development practices, architectures, and lifecycle management
• Ability to balance technical leadership with people management and delivery accountability
• Experience working in agile or iterative development environments
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional and global teams
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart

• Experience in R&D or product development environments within a global organization
• Hands-on background in one or more modern programming languages and cloud-based technologies
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation
• Experience managing distributed or cross-cultural teams
• Understanding of embedded systems, industrial software, or domain-specific applications relevant to Emerson
• Track record of driving innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
