Job Description: Job Title: Principal Engineer - Data Services Location: Bangalore, India Corporate Title: VP Role Description DWS’s data infrastructure team provides the secure, scalable, and trusted foundation for storing, processing, and distributing critical enterprise data across the organization. As Principal Engineer for Data Services, you will shape the technical strategy for a portfolio of data services, own key architecture decisions, raise engineering standards across teams, and contribute directly to the design and delivery. This role is hands-on and requires a high degree of autonomy and willingness to take ownership. What we’ll offer you As part of our flexible scheme, here are just some of the benefits that you’ll enjoy Best in class leave policy Gender neutral parental leaves 100% reimbursement under childcare assistance benefit (gender neutral) Sponsorship for Industry relevant certifications and education Employee Assistance Program for you and your family members Comprehensive Hospitalization Insurance for you and your dependents Accident and Term life Insurance Complementary Health screening for 35 yrs. and above Your key responsibilities Own the end-to-end architecture and technical design of core data services, ensuring scalability, resilience, security, and operational excellence Translate product vision, regulatory needs, and enterprise demand into pragmatic technical designs, engineering roadmaps, and executable delivery plans Set and continuously improve engineering standards, testing practices, quality controls, and development patterns across multiple teams Design and develop infrastructure components using Terraform, infrastructure-as-code practices, and automation tooling to support reliable platform delivery Partner with architects, security engineers, control functions, the Chief Data Office, and other stakeholders to strengthen compliance, security posture, and platform reliability Mentor engineers, review critical design and code decisions, and act as a senior technical reference point for complex data platform challenges Your skills and experience 10+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is a plus Very strong expertise in Java application development, including micro-services, Strong experience with operational databases (e.g. Postgres, Oracle) Experience in operating production applications on cloud and on premise Proficiency in Object Oriented Programming, and design patterns, using Java Some understanding of cloud-based data platforms such as GCP BigQuery, Snowflake or Databricks is a plus Experience with development utilizing software development life cycle (SDLC) tools including Git, JIRA, Artifactory, Jenkins/TeamCity, OpenShift Strong problem-solving skills, strategic thinking and attention to detail Fluent in English (written and spoken) Nice to have Skill – Knowledge/Experience in React.
