This role contributes directly to the quality and reliability of Ciena’s Navigator Intelligent Apps, enabling customers to operate complex IP, Packet, and Optical networks with confidence. The position offers hands-on exposure to advanced AI-driven testing methodologies within a collaborative, innovation-focused environment.
How you will make an impact:

Design and execute comprehensive test plans for Navigator Intelligent Apps using Agentic AI and Generative AI tools.

Automate test case creation, execution, and validation across API and UI layers using AI-enabled frameworks.

Develop and maintain API automation workflows and UI automation suites to ensure multi-layer network functionality.

Analyze automated test results using Agentic AI agents to identify defects and accelerate resolution paths.
-
Investigate software defects, assess customer impact, and escalate critical issues in collaboration with development teams.
-
Manage test artifacts, source code repositories, and continuous integration test execution within established CI/CD pipelines.
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the release cycle to ensure alignment with functional specifications and quality standards.
The must haves:
-
Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering OR Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
-
Experience: 1+ years of experience including internships in software testing, quality assurance, or a related field, with a focus on AI-driven methodologies.
-
Knowledge of Generative AI tools applied to software testing and quality assurance activities.
-
Ability to interpret AI-generated insights and translate them into actionable testing strategies.
-
1+ years of automation development experience using scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript, including integration of AI tools into test environments.

Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn complex technologies and apply new knowledge in day-to-day testing activities.
Nice to haves:
-
Hands-on experience with Generative AI frameworks such as GitHub Co-pilot, Post-bot, or similar tools for test case generation and validation.
-
Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) or other agentic AI ecosystems.
-
Hands-on experience with Google ADK or equivalent AI development kits.
-
Experience designing and implementing AI agents and workflows using an Agentic AI framework.
Pay Range:
The salary range for this role, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada is,:
$62,100 to $99, 300.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
