Higher Education Interim Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Build and maintain strong relationships with senior management, business and academic units, and technology vendors to earn trust and alignment between the IT function and the rest of the institution. Possess the ability to develop a complete understanding of the client institution, its mission, strategy, market, strengths, and issues. Lead IT planning and alignment by developing and executing a comprehensive IT Strategic Plan. Ensure IT initiatives, projects, and funding are approved and prioritized by establishing an effective IT governance structure that includes relevant business, academic, and student representation. Function as a good steward of the institution’s budgets and resources ensuring optimal return on investment. Provide leadership for competitive technology procurements, vendor negotiations, and vendor partnerships by managing IT vendors’ and service providers’ contracts and delivery on behalf of the institution. Develop and recommend information technology policies to ensure the appropriate acquisition, use, security, and cost-effective application of technology. Lead the IT department, which may include overseeing technology infrastructure, systems, enterprise applications, and the user experience through end user support. Research and evaluate new technologies to be used as enhancements or upgrades to existing server, network, and other IT infrastructure equipment. Stay current on the latest IT trends and best practices, continuously seeking opportunities to improve the institution’s technological capabilities.
