Job Description
We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, POM Product Owner, to join our BNY Payments Enablement Enterprise Platform team. This role is located in Pittsburgh, PA
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways

The Product Owner will lead a POD in the Sanctions Screening Group, one of the groups within the BNY Payments Enablement Enterprise Platform, with a mission to ensure strict adherence to regulatory expectations, reduce friction created by an evolving sanctions landscape and enabling the operations practice of the future.

Key responsibilities of the Product Owner would be to manage one of the pods within the Enrichment and Qualification group, including

Own and manage the product backlog for the pod, ensuring alignment with platform OKRs and strategic priorities.

Collaborate with stakeholders across various Business, Operations, Technology, Compliance, and Client Services to define and refine business problems and expected outcomes.

Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.

Prioritize backlog items to balance new feature delivery, technical debt, and platform resiliency.

Lead sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives in partnership with the Scrum Leads and development team.

Ensure solution designs align with long-term architecture and platform vision.

Monitor and measure pod’s performance, using data to inform decisions and continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent
- 10-13 plus years of experience in transaction banking, with at least 5-7 years in a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst role.
- Proven experience working on payment processing.
Domain Expertise
- Deep knowledge of global sanctions regimes and compliance frameworks (OFAC, UN, EU, etc)
- Hands-on experience with Sanctions screening
- Familiarity with sanctions-screening platforms, rule engines and ancillary software (e.g. Firco, Bridger, Lexus-Nexus, Orbis)
- Solid understanding of matching logic, fuzzy-matching algorithms, false-positive tuning and data-quality challenges
- Expertise in regulatory-change management and translating new or amended rules into system requirements
- Ability to define and interpret key performance metrics (hit-rates, false-positive ratios, throughput)
- Background in banking/financial-services operations or technology delivery in a regulated environment
Product Ownership & Agile Skills
- Experience as a Product Owner in Agile/Scrum environments, with a solid grasp of Agile principles, ceremonies and backlog prioritization/management and sprint execution
- Ability to write clear and actionable user stories, define acceptance criteria, and manage a product backlog.
- Strong stakeholder management skills — capable of balancing the needs of operations, compliance, IT, and clients.
- Proven stakeholder management—working effectively with Compliance, Legal, Risk, Operations, Technology and external vendors
- Experience collaborating with development teams, testers, and business SMEs to deliver high-quality solutions.
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work cross-functionally across business and technical teams.
- Ability to analyze trends and use data to inform product decisions and drive operational efficiency.
- Comfortable using data to drive prioritization and continuous improvement
- Proficiency with tools like JIRA, Confluence, Excel, and data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of LexisNexis Bridger and Fircosoft (or comparable systems) are a plus.
Soft Skills & Other Qualities
- Strong communication and documentation skills — able to translate complex payment processes into business and technical requirements.
- High attention to detail, especially in compliance- and risk-sensitive environments.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
- Comfortable working in a global, cross-functional team and across different time zones

Base salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base salary is only part of the total rewards package, which may include eligibility for an annual discretionary incentive award.
