Imagine what you could do here! The people here at Apple don’t just create products — they build the kind of wonder that’s revolutionized entire industries. It’s the diversity of those people and their ideas that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do, from amazing technology to industry-leading environmental efforts. At Apple, inclusion is a shared responsibility, and we work together to foster a culture where everyone belongs and is inspired to do their best work.

We’re a diverse collective of thinkers and doers, continuously reimagining our products and practices to help people do what they love in new ways. That innovation is inspired by a shared commitment to great work — and to each other. Because learning from the people here means we’re learning from the best. Retail Operations creates the tools and programs that empower our teams to provide, a one of a kind, only at Apple experience. We do this by obsessing over the employee and customer experience, and driving a global strategy that sets the bar.

"The Retail Technology, Demo Systems Engineering team owns the apps and software layers that bring devices to life in Apple stores. Our stack spans AV hardware, interactive players, content management systems, device targeting logic, demo apps, SDKs and experience frameworks. Our job is to compose all of this into innovative, scaleable customer demo experiences, worldwide.

We are hiring a staff level software engineer who can move fluently across the intersection of Apple operating systems, native and web apps as well as back end services on the demo stack. You will partner with business, creative and engineering teams to shape customer demo experiences in the store. Your work could span iOS or macOS engineering, SDK contracts, prototyping new apps, or tracing unexpected device behavior multiple layers into a backend service. You have shipped Swift at scale, can reason about underlying services, prototype quickly, and debug systems behavior to solve subtle production issues.

  • Own architecture, technical direction and implementation for native applications and shared libraries in the team's portfolio. Set the code quality bar, drive framework adoption and mentor engineers.

  • Dive into services architecture, platform behavior, or systems integration when a project is stuck. Reason across layers, propose the right fix, and drive it to production regardless of which repository it lives in.

  • Work directly with cross-functional partners on demo experiences for stores. Turn ambiguous requirements into working prototypes, then scale them for stores.

  • From architecture through DevOps: roadmap planning, technical scoping, code reviews, build systems, CI, release processes, telemetry, incident response, own end-to-end production quality.

  • Drive AI adoption responsibly. Understand that AI is an amplifier. Meet the team and the stack where they are, invest in foundational engineering discipline. Phase adoption to that reality, surface wins and costs fairly while ensuring fundamentals mature.

  • 15+ years shipping full-stack production software (native, web, backend, relational SQL data models), including designing and operating the devops pipelines: containerization and CI/CD with Jenkins pipeline-level failure diagnosis

  • Highly proficient in Swift, with Objective-C proficiency sufficient for interop and legacy maintenance, sustained across successive major iOS releases

  • Hands-on, compliant administration of AWS in production, including access control, compute, storage, resource provisioning and managed database services

  • Proven track record developing production-grade multi-model LLM integration in a native application, with typed contracts between model outputs and application code, and structured invocation of code by the model

  • Deeply skilled at architecting, building, and operating production-grade backend services in Go, exercising judgment across choice of data stores, document-oriented and relational

  • Experience designing, building, and operating production-grade data pipelines that ingest from Box or equivalent enterprise document storage reliably at scale

  • Experience driving significant modernization end to end (legacy application stacks and enterprise cloud platform migrations), with the systems continuing to serve users through the change

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field

  • Strong track record of collaborating with cross-functional partners in a business-embedded engineering function, working directly as DRI and team lead, including directing vendor scope, standards, and delivery

  • Has shipped and operated production services in two or more distinct language ecosystems (e.g., Swift/Vapor, Node/Express, JVM/Spring, Python/FastAPI), selecting based on problem fit rather than familiarity

  • Integration experience with enterprise identity and single-sign-on platforms

  • Design foundations (formal training or applied work) that inform how you build customer-facing surfaces
